Oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVED your version, Annelise!!!
“This is the summer of growing a baby, of growing bodies with growing appetites, growing gardens and growing a company. Of growing laundry piles, growing patience and watering my trust like the garden, but knowing I can’t make either grow.” Yes and amen.
Thanks for taking the time to write and share your version and thanks for the shout out!
This “growing” section was my favorite section as well. And the thanks continues on because I’m finishing up a “this is the summer of” post tonight. Thanks for the inspiration, both of you! I enjoyed the reflection time.
This is also the summer of packing and unpacking boxes, of wanting to make plans but learning to trust in a season of waiting. This is a summer of grief and joy, side by side, digging in the sandbox of this one precious life.
Just popping in to say, I love your writing. And as our own little family is planning a cross-Atlantic to North Carolina in a month, it's a joy to hear from a recent NC transplant to know what to expect! (Also, yes to Alison Roman recipes! The best.)
I am so tired 😂 And yes, full is the right word. It’s not always busy in the way I think of busy, but somehow it can be full even when things are slow.
Such a busy and full life. Your children are blessed to have such a good Mom.
Thank you, I don’t always feel it, but I’m trying my best.

Thanks for the post idea — I had no idea what I was writing 😂

Annelise, yep this is the summer, alright. And I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks for the invitation to join you in reflection ...

Thank you! It was fun to try to capture a snapshot.

You are in it as well! It’s so many things to process.

Best of luck to you! It’s been a bit of a climate shock for us, but there’s a lot that we love and a lot we’re still getting used to.
There are so many great lines in here and also it all makes me tired ; ) What a full, full life.
