We used to have neighbors who always brought us May Day flowers — I love those fun little traditions that you don’t know about until someone rings your doorbell and leaves a May Day bundle of posies. Yesterday I floated this idea to the gaggle of cousins playing basketball, framing it as “ding dong ditch, but you give them flowers1”. I wasn’t convinced it would take, but sure enough, during afternoon playtime they were industriously gathering wildflowers2. It’s always worth a shot to plant the idea, right? I got a pretty little bouquet out of it. Outside weather is in full swing here, and we are enjoying our fleeting time before the humidity really kicks in.
April was intense in all sorts of ways, and I’m breathing a small sigh of relief, while realizing May will not exactly be calm. Our type of activity and chaos will switch though, and we are all ready for a change of pace.
